10,000 Steps to Good Health

Everybody wants to be as healthy as possible but not every person has the time to do the required amount of exercise to get there. This is one of the reasons that the ten thousand step system has become popular. The plan is that you take at least ten thousand steps each day (walking) and that will help you get very healthy and cut down on the time that is required for exercise. Walking is fantastic exercise and very low impact. How often have you over heard a health care provider say “just a single walk around the block improves your health”?

Obviously, this will not simple to take ten thousand steps every day. That’s a whole lot! Thankfully, you are most likely taking lots of steps everyday and just don’t know it. Your goal should really just be raising your step count by two or three thousand. So how do you accomplish that without resorting to basically taking walks back and forth all day long?

There are a number of totally obvious things you can apply to take more steps. One typical example of this is hiking the stairs instead of taking an elevator or escalator. You may also decide to park far from the front door of the store or the mall. Keep the car in one spot and walk your bags and boxes out to the car as soon as you finish shopping in each store rather than just carrying more and more things with you as you run your errands and go shopping. Choosing public transit is fantastic since it includes a walk to and from a bus or train stop which is great for increasing your step count. Obviously, just simply getting a short walk each day is also wise.

You could also boost the amount of steps you take by using some less than evident methods. Write your current grocery store shopping list in a different arrangement. Plenty of people plan lists by the aisles in their preferred stores. You could choose to order your list based on category just like meat, product and dairy. Then go shopping in accordance with the order of the list. You might find yourself making a number of trips back and forth across the store, but it is a great way to grow your step count. Instead of owning a mail box as part of your door or attached to your home, mount it on a post near to the curb. This can easily add at least one or two dozen steps to your count when you check the mail each day.

There are plenty of ways to take more steps everyday. As you come to be accustomed to walking 10,000 steps each day you’ll come up with plenty of creative ways to get to that number. The nice thing is that all the steps you take each day count-walking to the fridge, the copy machine to and from your car-they all matter for your goal. Have fun with it!
